Nomig Silicium Carbide wear protection
An extremely wear-resistant coating
Nomig's Polymeric Cast is a high-strength silicon carbide (SiC) composite material designed to meet the rigorous demands of industries such as flue gas desulfurization, chemical processing, and pump manufacturing. By combining SiC with VE resin under vacuum conditions, this advanced solution offers outstanding wear resistance and an exceptional hardness of 9.7 Mohs, which is close to the hardness of a diamond. These properties ensure significantly extended service life for components exposed to harsh operational environments.
The versatility of Nomig's Polymeric Cast makes it suitable for a wide range of applications, including pump housings, washing nozzles, pipes and much more. Its chemical inertness across a pH range of 0 to 14 and operational temperature tolerance from -30°C to +210°C provide reliable performance under extreme conditions. The solution can be implemented in applications where food is being process and is also ATEX certified for application in pumps and ventilators.
If you need a solution with exceptional wear resistance, chemical attack protection, and the ability to prevent material stickiness, you've found it here.
We primarily use VE220 on worn or chemically damaged parts, offering a sustainable advantage in our opinion.
- Minimized use of new materials
- Low energy consumption during preparation and application
- Easy wear correction with a simple 'refresh' process
- Durable and highly cost-effective
By integrating Nomig's Polymeric Cast into your operations, you can achieve enhanced durability and reduced maintenance costs, ensuring your equipment withstands the test of time.
Plenty of possible applications
Some examples here
Wear protection coating of a pump housing
The pump housing shown on the images below, made of cast iron, was severely damaged due to exposure to a low pH environment and had a lifespan of less than 1.5 years. By applying a 2-3 mm layer of SiC polymeric cast, it has been made chemically resistant and wear-resistant, suitable for a pH range of 0-14. Despite being in poor condition and seemingly destined for scrap, Lutze Process restored it to full functionality, significantly extending its service life.
Wear protection coating of a cast bronze impeller
Regular inspections allow to determine when a 'refresh' is needed. During this process, the treated part is thoroughly cleaned, and any damaged parts are replaced. The component is then coated with a new Nomig wear-resistant layer, ensuring long-term usability. The following images showcase the refresh of a cast bronze impeller with a diameter of 600 mm, including balancing to G6.3 standards.
