Nomig Coating Solution Prolongs Equipment Life by over 5 Times in Danish Wastewater Plant
In 2023, a Danish customer active in industrial wastewater treatment faced a significant corrosion problem in their plant. The wastewater, containing ferric chloride, subjected the process equipment to harsh conditions, leading to frequent parts replacements. The customer turned to Lutze Process Denmark for a solution, attracted by our expertise and our range of durable couplings and hoses from Metso.
The focus was on their couplings, which required replacement every three months due to the aggressive environment. Recognizing the need for a more durable solution, our team at Lutze Process Denmark collaborated with colleagues from Lutze Process Netherlands, who are experts in Metso pumps and Nomig solutions.
We recommended the customer to try couplings coated with Nomig's advanced protective layer. To test this solution, the customer sent two couplings to the Netherlands for coating. After the process, the coated couplings were promptly returned and installed in February 2023. These were placed along a silo where the liquid contained a high concentration of ferric chloride.
Four and a half months later, on June 30, 2023, the customer reported back with positive news: the couplings looked as if they had just been installed, showing no signs of wear or corrosion.
Today, more than a year later, these couplings are still in place. While some corrosion has appeared on the coupling exposed to a higher concentration of ferric chloride, they are still operational and expected to last even longer.
This innovative solution has drastically extended the life of the couplings from three months to over sixteen months, resulting in an impressive 80% savings on the customer’s coupling expenses.
